Recently Chris Weinke has been getting in the headlines for his work with #1 overall draft choice Cam Newton but it appears that the St. Paul native will be helping some familiar faces for Vikings fans too. Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune reports that both Webb and Ponder will be working with Weinke in the weeks to follow. While this doesn’t mean a whole lot because no actual Vikings coaches can be present it is a positive sign for Vikings fans. I always say you wanna see your QBs doing extra work even when they don’t have to. This is a great example of that by both Webb and Ponder. Another plus is that each player has a small portion of new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave’s playbook. If Weinke can help break some plays down with them, it will give them both a head start heading into training camp. I really enjoyed watching Webb play last year but it still made sense for the Vikings to draft Ponder. Now I have 2 QBs on this team I am hoping to succeed. Which makes sense because their combined age is roughly similar to our starting QB the last 2 years.
