The Twins lose 6-5 in their third straight game decided by just one run.
After a lack of offense yesterday both teams exploded today by combining for 24 hits and 11 runs. Carl Pavano, who is still looking for his 100th win, pitched 8 innings for the Twins but gave up 5 runs on 10 hits with 3 Ks. The Twins were down 5-3 in the top of the ninth when Mark Trumbo hit a solo HR to make it a 6-3 lead. At the time the HR seemed like icing on the cake but later turned out to be much more valuable for the Angels. In the bottom of the ninth the Twins compiled 2 walks, 2 hits and 2 runs against the Angels closer but still came short after Michael Cuddyer flied out to deep center with the tying run on base. The top of the Twins order including Span, Casilla, Kubel and Morneau had an outstanding game going 10-18 with 3 runs and all 5 RBI. The Twins defense had another rough night by adding another 2 errors and a couple other sloppy plays. The Twins will now head to Detroit for a 3 game series with the Tigers starting tomorrow.
