The Twins will start a series with Milwaukee on Friday and two Twins will return to join them on the road trip.

Thome has been on the DL since June 2nd with a left quad strain and Nathan since May 24th with a right flexor muscle strain. Both players will be activated before the game on Friday against the Brewers. Thome had five at bats in a simulated game today and it was determined he is ready to return to the Twins. Nathan will pitch again for AAA Rochester tonight for his last outing before returning to the Twins as well. The players who will be sent down to make room on the roster still has to be decided. Likely the Twins will need to decide if Rene Rivera or Drew Butera will be the backup catcher and the other may be sent down to make room for Thome on the roster. The other roster move is more difficult to speculate on.

UPDATE: The Twins activated Joe Nathan after the game Thursday and sent Jim Hoey to AAA Rochester once again. The Twins have decided to wait one more day to activate Thome to make sure he is ready to return. One of the two backup catchers will be sent down to make room on the roster.
