The Twins battled back all game finally getting the tying run in the 7th inning and then the bullpen faltered by allowing 7 runs in the final two innings. Liriano started for the Twins and could not find his command. He pitched only 4 1/3 innings allowing 5 earned runs on 6 hits with 4 walks and 3 hit batters. The Twins got behind 2-0 in the second inning until Cuddyer hit a 2 run single in the 3rd inning to tie the game. The Rays found more success against Liriano to take a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the 5th. Jim Thome cut into the lead with a 2 run single in the 5th making the score 5-4. In the bottom of the 7th Cuddyer completed the rally and tied the game on a solo home run. In the 8th inning Alex Burnett came into the game in relief and the flood gates opened. He allowed 4 earned runs on 4 hits with a walk and Dumatrait pitched in the 9th allowing 3 earned runs on 3 hits.
