Nick Blackburn started for the Twins against the Royals on Friday. He pitched 7 scoreless innings for the Twins in a pitchers duel with Hochevar. Blackburn allowed only 4 hits with 2 walks and 3 Ks in the 7 innings. The Twins scored their only run on a wild pitch in the 4th inning with Revere on third base. Nathan came in and pitched a scoreless 8th inning bring the game down to Capps in the ninth. Capps walked the leadoff batter Cabrera who then stole second base with no outs in the inning. Capps got the next two outs bringing the rookie Hosmer to the plate. In the middle of the at bat Capps threw a fastball right down the heart of the plate and Hosmer didn’t miss it. He hit a towering homer to deep center field to take the lead 2-1. The Twins threatened in the bottom of the ninth but were unable to score any runs against Soria.
