If the Twins make any trades to make their team better this summer it will likely be for relief help. The Twins are last in the major leagues with a 5.04 bullpen ERA. GM Bill Smith has had experience picking up relief help mid-season for the Twins. In 2009 he acquired Rauch and Mahay in August after the trade deadline when they must be placed on waivers and in 2010 he acquired Fuentes and Flores in August. Last season he also acquired Matt Capps in July before the deadline. Even though I have included them in my list below, I don’t see the Twins picking up any big name closers this season because it would just cause more uncertainty as to who the closer will be and be a headache for Gardy. Most of the closers are free agents to be. and would want to be the closer for their new team to help themselves earn more in free agency. There are many relief options available for the Twins to choose from this season, here are just some of the names.
