Former Colts starting LT will no longer be protecting Peyton Manning. While the name Charlie Johnson may be the most generic name in the NFL, he happens to play one of the most unique and important positions. On top of that, he has the ability to play RT and both guard positions. I don’t see him supplanting Bryant McKinnie or Steve Hutchinson at this point nor do I see the Vikings playing him over Phil Loadholt either. However, I do see him threatening Anthony Herrera’s starting job and at the very least offering depth at every position. Finally, it appears as if the Vikings are making an effort on keeping our quarterbacks upright and healthy.
