According to Espn’s Jerry Crasnick, The Twins have agreed to terms with free agent Catcher Ryan Doumit pending a physical. The deal is for 1 year and $3M which also includes performance bonuses. Doumit, who turns 31 in April, is a switch hitter that played 77 games for the Pirates in 2011 batting .303 with a .353 on base percentage and .477 slugging percentage in 236 plate appearances. Doumit provides versatility for the Twins as he can play catcher, first base, and right field. This is crucial for the Twins as they are still unsure how many games Mauer and Morneau will be able to play out in the field this season.
