The Twins and free agent closer Matt Capps have agreed on a one year contract with an option for a second, according to SI’s Jon Heyman. He will earn $4.5M in 2012 with a $6M option ($250K buyout) for 2013. After acquiring Capps in July 2010 he posted a 2.00 ERA with 16 saves for the Twins. In 2011 he had a subpar year posting a 4.25 ERA and being removed from the closer role. With no closer on the roster for 2012 it looks like Capps will have ample opportunity to earn the closer job next season.
