On Monday the Twins decided to non-tender left handed relief pitcher Jose Mijares for 2012 making him a free agent. Mijares has been a lefty specialist mostly for the Twins the past 4 seasons. His ERA has been rising every year in each of the 4 years. Last season Mijares also had problems with his control as he walked 30 batters compared to only 9 in 2010.

Also on Monday Jim Hoey was claimed on waivers by the Blue Jays. Over the weekend he was removed from the 40-man roster causing him to be put through waivers. Hoey was acquired by the Twins in the J.J. Hardy trade last offseason.
