The Twins have announced that they will sign free agent starting pitcher Jason Marquis to a one year $3M contract. As I stated in my last post, he is a 33 year old right-hander that spent last season with the Nationals and Diamondbacks posting a 4.43 ERA in 132 innings. Marquis, much like Blackburn, is a ground ball pitcher with a fastball clocked on average around 89-90 mph. Marquis is coming off a 2 year $15M contract he signed with Washington last time he was a free agent. He will be thrown in the mix with a rotation likely including Carl Pavano, Francisco Liriano, Scott Baker and Nick Blackburn.
