As we mentioned earlier today, the Minnesota Vikings have announced that they have promoted Rick Spielman to GM, hopefully forever dissolving the “triangle of authority”

Back in the glory days of Brad Childress, Rick Spielman, and Rob Brzezinski (it’s why I feel that we didn’t draft a QB until this year, I don’t know who Brzezinski is, but Childress wanted his Jackson, and then Jackson #2 aka Joe Webb), the Vikings seemed to have drafts that were all over the place.  Early on, they made wise decisions (AP, Harvin, trading the first pick for Allen), but it was in the later rounds of the draft that really got people scratching their heads.  Hopefully the one person will do much better than 3 arguing over the one pick.

With the Vikings season over, this change brings about the start of the new era.  It seems to be a sign that Ponder is here to stay (it would be stupid to waste 2 draft picks in 2 years on a QB), so hopefully the Vikings will go after other needs (WR, LT, LG, RG, RT, LE, NT, WLB, MLB (to train in before E J goes), CB, CB,CB, FS, SS (one of the two safety positions can be eliminated if the Vikings decide to finally move the slowing Winfield there)).  With just over 4 months to the draft, nerds like me are getting excited for what I have deemed “my favorite sports holiday.”  Keep checking back with us here at for info on the Vikings and which directions they might be going.
