The Minnesota Gophers lost 69-73 to the Michigan Wolverines ending their chance at a NCAA March Madness birth. The game was close the whole way and had to go to overtime to be decided. Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. had a field day against Minnesota putting up 30 and 20, respectively, for a combined 50 points. Austin Hollins led the Gophers with 21 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds. It isn’t like this is that surprising of a loss since the Wolverines are the 2nd seed in the tournament. However, based on last time these teams met I thought this game could be close. I was right but the end was still the same, a loss for the Golden Gophers. Minnesota will now go for the NIT championship and hope for a fresh start next year.
