The Vikings have signed former Miami running back Lex Hilliard to a one year contract. Hilliard started 4 games for Miami last season but only had 16 carries for 41 yds and a TD on the season. He is entering his 4th NFL season and has only 39 carries for 89 yards in his career. He appears to be in line to take the roster spot formerly held by Lorenzo Booker, who is a free agent. The 5’11”, 240 lb Hillard won’t necessarily fill the same role as the departing Booker. Hillard is viewed more as a HB/FB hybrid and will be counted on more for his blocking ability than rushing.
