This year the Twins selected pitcher Terry Doyle in the Rule-5 draft from the Chicago White Sox. The 26 year old Doyle holds a career 2.94 ERA in the minor leagues but has never played above Double-A ball. He would have needed to stay on the 25 man active roster all season for the Twins to retain his rights unless they were able to work out a trade like they did last year to retain Scott Diamond. This spring Doyle allowed 14 hits, 3 walks and 10 runs in only 5 1/3 innings. The Twins offered him back to the White Sox after failing to reach common ground on a trade for the pitcher. The Twins will get back $25,000 of the $50,000 they paid to pick Doyle.
