On Saturday the Twins claimed outfielder Clete Thomas off waivers from the Tigers. To make room on the 25-man roster they have optioned Ben Revere to Rochester where he will be able to play everyday. Revere had only 11 at bats in the Twins first 8 games and his playing time was not expected to increase anytime soon. Terry Ryan sees Revere as an everyday leadoff hitter more than a reserve fourth outfielder so Thomas will fill that role better. Scott Baker was also placed on the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster. The 28 year old Thomas can play all three outfield positions and also has some speed and pop in his bat. He was drafted in 2002 by the Twins but did not sign and was later drafted in 2005 by the Tigers. In his debut for the Twins on Sunday he played RF and hit a two-run home run to give the Twins the lead in the 5th inning.
