Infielder Luke Hughes was claimed off of waivers Sunday by the Oakland Athletics. The 27-year old Hughes leaves the Twins with a career 335 at bats with a .224 batting average. Hughes was placed on waivers to make an extra spot in the pitching rotation. Now, he will head to the west coast to play for the Athletics. Hughes had this to say on twitter following the announcement,

“I’m very happy to say that I’m off to Oakland. Thank you to the Minnesota Twins organization and to the fans. Can’t wait for the fresh start”

Best of luck to Luke as he continues his career, except when he plays the Twins of course.
