The Vikings finally decided to add WR depth in the 4th round with the Selection of Jarius Wright. This looks like a quality pick because Wright is a 4-year starter at a big name school in Arkansas. The only issue that I have with the pick is that to me it seems like Wright plays the same position as our current best receiver, Percy Harvin. That doesn’t mean it is a wasted pick and Wright can certainly be a contributor to this team. Wright finished his career at Arkansas with 168 receptions for 2934 yards and 24 touchdowns. Wright is also somewhat of a burner with his coaches claiming he ran a 4.27 second 40-time. However, at the combine he only managed to run a 4.42. Check out some of Wright’s strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths:

Good initial burst and change of direction

Runs sharp routes with great cuts

Good hands

Weaknesses:

Lacks ideal size and strength (5’10” and only 11 reps at 225 bench)

Struggles against press coverage

Not much of an option on special teams
