Some may see it as long over due, others may see it as pointless, but the Twins are in need of some sort of change to help this ball club out of the slump they’ve been in. After falling to the Angels last night, the Twins are now 8-22 on the season.

Step one: Move Francisco Liriano to the bullpen (because step one can’t be to magically make everyone better). And that’s just what the Twins did. Manager Rod Gardenhire still sees Liriano as a starter for the team, but feels that a few relief sessions might help build his confidence back up. To this point Liriano is 0-5 in 6 starts with an impressive 9.45 era.

The Twins also decided to do some other things to shake up the roster. 3B Danny Valencia will be optioned down to Triple A Rochester along with lefty Matt Maloney. With doing so the twins also recalled outfield Darin Mastroianni. The Twins are a long way from competing, but they had to do something to get out of their current funk. Here’s to hoping.
