Ricky Rubio may have taken another step towards superstar status. Still just a kid at 21-years of age and not even finishing an entire season due to injury, reports are that Ricky Rubio has signed a monster contract with Adidas, according to tubasket.com (site is not in English). The exact amount is not known yet but it is reported that only 2 players will earn more than him, Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose. If you recall, Rose signed a 14-year, $260 Million deal with Adidas this year so anything close to that would make Rubio a wealthy man.

This is also good news if you look at the Timberwolves’ long-term future. One of the big problems the media outlets discussed is that Minnesota is too small of a market to keep Rubio long-term. Well, this is a good step in proving them wrong. The next step is for Ricky to get healthy so he can lace up his new shoes on the court.

UPDATE: Initial reports are showing the deal will be worth a reported 14-years, $240 Million ($193 Million guaranteed). Just want to emphasize that these are just reports right now and nothing is confirmed. We’ll post more information as it become available.
