It was a fun year even with the injury bug biting over and over. Finally, it bit more than the Wolves could handle knocking out Ricky Rubio for the year with his torn ACL. Minnesota was on track to the playoffs until that happened. That was not the only reason for their downfall but it certainly was a big piece to the puzzle. Even missing 24 of the possible 65 games in the lockout shortened season Rubio was voted to the 1st team All-NBA rookie team. Other rookies earning 1st team nods included Kyrie Irving, Kenneth Faried, Klay Thompson, Iman Shumpert, Kawhi Leond, and Brandon Knight. Normally, they only have 5 players make it but a situation where 3 players tied for 5th resulted in 7 players named to the team as opposed to just 5. Fellow Timberwolves’ forward Derrick Williams made 2nd team along with Tristan Thompson, Chandler Parsons, Isaiah Thomas, and MarShon Brooks.

The next step for the two will be for Rubio to get healthy and stronger and Williams getting faster, better at guarding smaller forwards, and finishing at the rim. Whether all this happens remains to be seen. Until we find out, lets just be happy the Wolves have some up-and-coming stars.
