Parmelee back, DeVries out

The Minnesota Twins have not been very impressed thus far with RHP Cole DeVries who has a 4.20 ERA in a mere 15 innings pitched.

The Twins have decided to bring back first baseman Chris Parmelee, with the available roster spot from sending DeVries down. This might be just to be able to give Justin Morneau more time at just DH, but either way, he’ll be back with the Twins. While in Triple-A Rochester Parmelee hit .375/.500/.708 in 15 games. Hopefully he can bring some of that hitting up to the majors with him.

Morneau back; Parmelee optioned

Twins former MVP Justin Morneau is returning from the disabled list. His wrist apparently is feeling much better as the Twins plan to activate him for tonight’s game.

The interesting part is that the Twins have decided to demote 1B Chris Parmelee in order to make room on the roster for Morneau. Meaning that Morneau will have to see more time at first base. It’s also likely that Mauer will see more time there as well. Continue reading

This morning, the Minnesota Twins acquired first-baseman Matt Rizzotti from the Philadelphia Phillies. The 6’5″, 255 pound 26-year old Rizzotti, throws and hits left-handed and batted .295 in AA last year with 24 home-runs and 84 RBI. The Twins only had to give up cash to get Rizzotti and no prospects so the price could not be better. It also signifies the Twins desire to keep young first-baseman Chris Parmelee on the roster when the season starts. On the surface, this already looks like a win for the Twins.
