Apparently Christian Ponder has been extremely excited about the drafting of LT Matt Kalil, USC, everyday since the Thursday night’s draft.

Ponder told Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network in an interview that he can see himself growing old in the NFL, with apparently Kalil at his side (presumably his left side). This would be great news for the Vikings who haven’t had a young QB/LT tandem in recent memory, where both players were talented (sorry T-Jack). Continue reading

The Vikings have agreed to a one year contract with free agent offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz. Details of the contract are currently unknown. The 25 year old Schwartz spent his first 3 seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He is 6-6, 331 lbs. and a versatile lineman who can play RG or RT. He missed all of 2011 due to a hip injury but played in all 32 games and started 19 in the two years previous. For the Vikings he will provide depth and competition for Fusco and Berger at RG and for Phil Loadhold at RT. He is likely to challenge for the starting spot at RG. The Vikings current offensive line coach Jeff Davidson is familiar with Schwartz from when he coached him in Carolina.
